Delhi Court complexes were thrown into chaos on Tuesday morning after a coordinated bomb threat email claimed explosives had been planted in multiple judicial buildings and two CRPF-run schools. The message referenced Jaish-e-Mohammed, triggering mass evacuations, sweeping security checks and a heightened alert across the national capital. No explosives have been found, but authorities say the threat is being treated as credible until fully verified.
Major Evacuations Across Court Complexes
The threat email was simultaneously received by officials at Patiala House, Saket, Rohini, and Tis Hazari courts. The message warned that bombs were hidden inside the complexes and could detonate at any moment. Judicial officers immediately ordered evacuations, halting proceedings and directing lawyers, litigants and staff to secure zones.
Security teams, including bomb disposal squads, dog squads, Delhi Police Special Cell, and fire units, carried out extensive room-to-room sanitisation. Parking lots, chambers, basements and common areas were checked thoroughly while entry and exit gates were sealed.
CRPF Schools Also Targeted
Two CRPF schools located in Dwarka and Prashant Vihar received the same threat email. Administrations activated emergency evacuation protocols, guiding children to safe areas outside the buildings. Parents rushed to the campuses after being alerted, describing tense but well-managed evacuation efforts.
Police maintained a perimeter around both schools and conducted deep searches before declaring the premises safe for the day.
What the Threat Email Contained
The email, written in English, invoked the name of Jaish-e-Mohammed and claimed bombs had been placed across key judicial institutions. According to officials, the message stated:
“Good morning India. Due to continuous injustice against the people of Allah, bombs have been planted in Delhi courts. Patiala House. Rohini. Saket. Dwarka Court. Today there will be destruction. This is the order of Jaish-e-Mohammed.”
Cyber teams are examining phrasing, language structure and routing data to determine whether the email is genuinely terror-linked or an attempt to imitate the group.
Scenes at Saket and Patiala House
At Saket Court, the evacuation began moments after the email was flagged. A lawyer said the Bar Association, judicial officers and security personnel acted immediately once the threat was confirmed. The advocate noted that both the main court building and the lawyers’ chamber block were cleared without delay.
He strongly criticised the rising climate of fear, referencing the recent Red Fort blast, which resulted in multiple fatalities. He said that continuous terror-linked disturbances were creating unnecessary panic among citizens.
At Patiala House, several sensitive hearings were interrupted. Staff members moved out in coordinated groups while security teams examined high-risk areas including records sections, parking zones and washroom clusters.
Bar Association Response
Advocate Navneet Panwar, Vice President of the New Delhi Bar Association, confirmed that the email reached district judges across multiple courts early in the day. He stated:
“Security agencies responded immediately. The bomb squad has sanitised the court. Members have been advised to remain alert. Security has already been tightened for two to three days due to the Red Fort blast case. The threat is serious, but court work has not stopped.”
His remarks underline that while the threat disrupted operations, judicial activity gradually resumed after initial checks.
Heightened Alert After Red Fort Blast
The bomb scare comes at a time when Delhi is still on edge following the Red Fort vehicle explosion, which killed several people and triggered a citywide security overhaul. One of the accused in that case was expected to be produced in a Delhi court this week, adding to the sensitivity surrounding the threat.
Officials are examining whether the timing of the email indicates a deliberate attempt to exploit the ongoing investigation.
Cyber Forensics at Work
The Delhi Police cyber unit is analysing the email’s digital footprint. Experts are reviewing server pathways, encryption methods and potential VPN masking. The message appears to have been sent to multiple institutions simultaneously, suggesting the use of automated or anonymised mailing tools.
Investigators are comparing this email with similar anonymous threat messages received by Delhi schools in recent months to establish possible connections.
Security Across Delhi Intensified
The Delhi Police have increased surveillance across metro stations, government buildings, educational institutions, markets, and court zones. Extra PCR vans and patrol teams have been deployed. Authorities have advised citizens to remain vigilant and avoid circulating unverified information.
